Portraits of NoBody

Portraits of NoBody is the ongoing body of work of Guy Hivroni, a ceramic sculptor based in Jerusalem: coats, suits, shirts and dresses made of stoneware and shown without a body. Each sculpture is a unique, wheel-thrown and hand-sculpted garment that suggests presence through absence.

ABOUT THE WORK

My ongoing body of work, exploring clothing as a vessel of identity, memory, and belonging. Created as bodyless ceramic garments, the sculptures suggest presence through absence, inviting viewers to encounter the traces of lives rather than the figures themselves.

Within this body of work, different series investigate everyday and ceremonial clothing as personal and cultural archives, examining how garments preserve memory, embody ritual, and continue to carry identity beyond the physical body.

The current series, Wedding Dresses of No Body (2025–2026), turns to the wedding dress. About Guy Hivroni →
