Accessibility
Statement
Guy Hivroni’s studio believes that a body of work about the human figure should be reachable by every body. We invest continuous effort in making hivroni.art usable by as many people as possible, including visitors who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard alone, or need larger text and stronger contrast.
This statement sets out the standard the site is built to, the accessibility features available on it, the limitations we are aware of, and how to reach us if you meet a barrier.
Our commitment
1.1This site is operated by Guy Hivroni, an independent ceramic sculptor working from a studio at Davidson 8, Jerusalem.
1.2We regard equal access to the site as a basic obligation and act in the spirit of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758–1998 and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Service Accessibility Adjustments), 5773–2013.
1.3Accessibility here is treated as ongoing work rather than a one-off project: the site is reviewed periodically and corrected whenever a barrier is found or reported.
The standard applied
2.1The site has been built and adjusted to meet Israeli Standard 5568 (Guidelines for Web Content Accessibility), which is based on the international WCAG 2.1 specification, at level AA.
2.2Accessibility work on the site is supported by an automated scanning and remediation tool that checks pages against those criteria and flags issues for correction.
2.3The site has been tested on current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, on desktop and on mobile, using keyboard-only navigation.
2.4The site is designed to work with screen readers, including NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver, in conjunction with an up-to-date browser.
The accessibility tool on this site
An accessibility tool is available on every page of the site. Its button sits on the left edge of the screen, vertically centred, and can be opened with the mouse or by reaching it with the keyboard and pressing Enter. Through it you can:
- Enlarge the text without breaking the layout.
- Increase line spacing for easier tracking between lines.
- Change text alignment to left, right or centre.
- Switch to a readable font designed for greater legibility.
- Adjust contrast — high contrast, inverted, light or dark.
- Switch to greyscale, removing colour altogether.
- Highlight all links so they stand out from the surrounding text.
- Emphasise the keyboard focus outline to make the current position clearly visible.
- Display a reading mask that isolates a single line at a time.
- Hide images for a text-only reading of the page.
- Pause animations, including the moving images on the home page.
- Open the page structure — a list of the page’s headings and links for quick navigation.
Your choices are remembered on your device, so they apply again the next time you visit.
What has been done on the site
Beyond the tool itself, the site has been built with the following adjustments:
- Full keyboard navigation — every link, button, form field and menu can be reached with Tab and operated with Enter or Space, with a visible focus indicator throughout.
- A “skip to content” link that appears on the first Tab press and jumps past the navigation straight to the page content.
- Alternative text on images, so that each sculpture is described to screen-reader users.
- A logical heading hierarchy on every page, allowing navigation by headings.
- Semantic, correctly labelled markup for landmarks, forms and buttons, including accessible names on the icon links.
- Colour contrast between text and background meeting the level AA ratios.
- Form fields with visible, associated labels and clear error messages on the contact form.
- Text that reflows and remains readable when enlarged or viewed on a small screen, without horizontal scrolling.
- Meaningful link text — links describe their destination rather than saying “click here”.
- No content that flashes or relies on colour alone to convey information.
Limitations we are aware of
We prefer to be candid about where the site is not yet fully accessible:
- Third-party components. The payment screen is supplied by our payment provider, and embedded social-media content is served by the relevant platform. These are outside our direct control, and we cannot guarantee their level of accessibility. If one of them blocks you, contact us and we will complete the transaction with you personally.
- Downloadable documents. The artist’s CV is offered as a PDF, which may not be fully accessible to every screen reader. We will gladly supply the same information in plain text or by e-mail on request.
- Archive images. A small number of older exhibition photographs may still carry an alternative description that is briefer than we would like. These are being revised.
Despite our efforts, it is possible that a page or a component we have not yet identified is not fully accessible. If you meet one, please tell us — a report is the fastest route to a fix, and we treat it as a priority.
Visiting the studio
6.1The studio at Davidson 8, Jerusalem receives collectors by prior arrangement only; it is a working studio and not a walk-in gallery.
6.2If you need an accessibility adjustment in order to visit — step-free access, assistance on arrival, extra time, or a companion or a service animal accompanying you — please say so when arranging the visit. We will tell you honestly what the space allows and do everything we can to accommodate you.
6.3Where a visit to the studio is not practical, we are happy to arrange a video viewing of a work, or additional photographs and a recorded description, at no charge.

Reporting a barrier
8.1If you came across a page, an element or a document you could not use, we would like to hear about it. Write to hivroni@gmail.com, call +972 54 559 7079, or use the contact form.
8.2To help us reproduce the problem, it is useful — though not required — to include the address of the page, a description of what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you were using.
8.3We aim to acknowledge every report within 5 business days and to correct the problem, or offer an alternative route to the same content or service, as quickly as we can.
